Heiko Kühr was born in Germany. He is a self-taught photographer and has worked as guide and expedition leader in the Arctic for about ten years. During that time he has joined numerous expeditions, especially on Spitzbergen (Svalbard), but also the Antarctic - always looking to catch the RIGHT moment.
Owing to his experience of the outdoors and in the company of dogs, he wrote the book "Trekking mit Hund", 2005, on how to prepare a dog for a multi-day hike, and how to go out on a successful hike with dogs. His work has been published in the annual catalogue of Spitsbergentravel, a well known norwegian tour operator and various canine journals in Germany and Switzerland.
His photograph's have recently been published in
"The Epoche Times" (September 9, 2009)

"Photography is a very personal expression of a moment in one individuals life. It might be about catching a special moment, an impressive or rare situation, an amazing light, but to me it's much more about capturing an atmosphere and creating a picture that triggers a feeling inside the viewers heart. It's not the camera that takes the picture, but the person behind it."
